Our queen visited a gay bar today
well, as near as she'll ever get, I presume. This still of the news was shot at the opening of the exhibition "Amsterdam & the Oranjes", where they rebuilt gay bar café Rouge which is fully decorated with royalty paraphernalia. Every year on queens day you can photograph yourself there together with bar owner Edwin van Kollenburg, dressed as an over the top Beatrix, all in support of the queen Wilhelmina cancer fund: bar owner was interviewed too. My fav smell Hate the word fragrance, especially for this stuff, promoted by fav man actor Johnathan R.M. It's not about being subtle, it's a Man2MAN thing. Here's the list of contents: * TOP (evaporates fastest) Lime, ginger, grapefruit * HEART (lingering) Geranium Kardamon, sage, pelogium, cypress * BASE (lasts all day) Woods, tobacco, patchouli, balsemic, amber, resin, suede, musk, olibanum.
See, this is about men smells, just the way we want. May I also remind you that Hugo Boss was the dsesigner of the (in)famous SS and Hitler jugend uniforms? Think what you will about that time, but those were superb designs that managed to glorify the German soldiers to a whole generation then and skinheads and queer fetishists until now.comment?

One more futile attempt to get the American gay voters to think
Have watched a program last night on the Beeb about the British elections from the eighties until now. I hope it will be aired on BBC America, because it shows a few general laws on elections. What goes for the Brits also goes for the USA with a not dissimilar two party system.
The Conservatives dominated parliament all along the eighties. Maggie went to war, always a good thing for your popularity, but she managed to outstay here welcome till the mid nineties, because for years there was no opposition. Labour was stuck with Neil Kinnock, who came from the trade unions, the backbone of that party. He was immensely popular with the old workers, but Maggy managed to portray him as ultraleft, blocking all progress, and indeed, he was not even able to move his party into the 20th century, let alone the 21st: It all remained stuck in the locked unions. This gave her a golden opportunity to portray him as personally responsible for the depression of the late seventies and early eighties. Not until Neil was replaced by Tony, who quickly renamed his party New Labour, moved so quickly to the middle of the political spectrum that he blew all wind out of trade unions and the Conservatives and finaly won back a parliamentary majority and the office of prime minister.
You might think it was clever to also go to war, but this time he sided with a lying and cheating US president and eventually shot himself in the foot. By stepping down he kept his party in control however and until this day managed to show off the conservatives as ultra rightwing and unfit for governement.
what I'm saying is: Obama may be popular enough to win his own party, but he will never beat a republican who has moved to middle ground. So democrats, please comde down from your cloud nine and get back behind the girl who does have a feasible strategy. comment?

Oops, sorry for disrupting Youtube all over the world
Pakistani authorities, in a silly attempt to block the anounced Wilders movie from reaching their inhabitants by completely barring Youtube from their country, yesterday managed to have all the world's Youtube traffic disappear into a virtual black hole.
With this stupid and futile action, you guys do not only show you don't know fuck about worldwide datacommunication, but also show very little respect for the muslims in our country. They are perfectly capable of dealing with Mr. Wilders in ways that we here find appropriate: in our parliament and our media. Mr. Wilders, just like our homos, our muslims, jews, atheists and christians are ALL protected by article 1 of our constitution. We do take our constitution and freedom of speech very serious. So you terrorist guys, go on: burn your own churches and mosques, kill your own presidential candidates, fuck up your own democracy, but do not fuck with us, if you do not want to look more stupid then Geert Wilders. As the images in this entry show, we are perfectly capable of dealing with this guy.
I know you muslim fundamentalists have troube with looking at things from another point of view, but maybe you guys can understand it in these terms: Only a small %age of the Dutch have sympathy for this guy, but that would turn 180° if an assasination attempt would be succesful.
Besides, do you guys really want him to have fun for eternity with 100 Christian virgins?
We, the Danes, all Europeans, and about half the Americans (the other half still cannot grasp the concept, despite the fact that wise men who drew up their constitution put it in. Sorry US friends, I have to be objective about your republican countrymen) believe, ever since the French revolution that religion; faith in a god, is a gift only some of us get. It is no use forcing it upon people or individuals. It is only true and sincere if it is a really free and voluntary choice. So there is no use fighting over it and it's downright insane to start wars over it. I myself have been pulled away from the religion of my family because it tried to force me into being something I can never be: a heterosexual. My family realises that now, and in recent years I have come back to respect them. Sadly my native church, that one from Rome, still does not. So they are as much my enemy as the the muslim faith, that (in some countries) denies we homos exist or could have a meaningful life.

Don't make a mistake you'll regret this fall, my US friends . . .
I'm getting worried with the amount of support I see Obama get on a lot of gay weblogs, now he's temporarily ahead because a large number of predominantly black states just had primaries. It looks like the younger the autors, the more naive they are. The concept of strategic voting is completely lost on them. Boys, listen: he may be black , he may be young, he may have a monstercock as impressive as his low voice, but he did not put any substance yet in his "change" slogan. i'm not so much worried that he might win the democratic primaries, but that he will lose the presidential elections when the republicans pull out all the stops with the most moderate candidate they had in decades.
Why is it that so many of you go for unsubstanciated rhetoric instead of some well thought over policies, based on 20 years of Washington experience: She knows it's easy to present dreams, and she also knows what it feels like to fall flat on your face as she did 15 years ago, against a republican majority in the house with healthcare reforms, the USA still dearly needs to this day.
Let's give Obama his big change in 8 years, when he's had time to study, and adopt, this bit of a Hillary speech:
"We have so much work to do. When I am President, we will work together to make sure that all Americans in committed relationships have equal benefits and that nothing stands in the way of loving couples who want to adopt children in need. We’re going to expand our federal hate crimes legislation and pass the Employment Non-Discrimination Act and assure that they are both fully inclusive of all people. And finally, we will put an end to the failed policy of Don’t Ask, Don’t Tell. Courage, honor, patriotism and sacrifice
– the traits that define our men and women in uniform – have nothing to do with sexual orientation."

should I change my weblog settings? or, more designer cock
Sometimes you have images that just will not allow for resizing to the 470 pixel width format. But then I can always link to the original format. Still, looking back a few months through the pages, I wonder: it is the overall first glance that sets the appeal of a weblog and it does sometimes make my stomack cringe to fit images in the layout. Like this one:
At this point I must refer you to the entry of december 2nd '07, delving deep into (over?) phallic tower buildings. Comments in the design world keep nagging. Some people seem to think these buildings are ugly just because of their form. They even thought so when the Empire State building was built. Luckily, even in the islamic world there are people that are one of the following:
they have a sense of humor.
They are so fundamental they cant see 5° away from straight forward, like Queen Victoria could not fathom there could be such a thing as lesbians, they cannot get past the idea that women or gay men have erotic fantasies too, so they cannot possibly see the male sexual organ as erotic.
As this is obviously a condom covered and uncircumsised cock, the Arabs at work here did not recognise the shape.
a case of "the emperor wears no clothes": the designers, planners, politicians did not dare to suggest this could be seen as a phallus, erased the thought from their minds, hoping no one would notice.
Well, this tasty building in Dubai is planned to be finished end of this year.
and if I really want you to experience every hair on a particular butthole, I can always use the gorgeous lightbox 2 javascript

Benno Premsela
Been to 2 exhibs about this man that are in Amsterdam simultaneously. The 1st, in the city archive building, was quite disappointing, mainly because you were not allowed to make photographs. There was nothing exhibited that was light sensitive. I think Benno, a very open, warm and sociable person would strongly disaprove. The austere, former bank, building also gave me a prety totalitarian regime feeling.
The positive feeling the excursion left overall was caused by the person of Premsela, pioneer of out queer living and national queer culture leader for 50 years, of which 20 in the board of the COC. And some of his quotes that made me really happy:
I did it all for nobody but myself: My life would have had no value at all if I had to cover up such an essential part of it
Will integration ever be finished? That's a ridiculous question: Homosexuals are not a group; every one of us has to re-invent the wheel. We are not cradled by our environment; to say it blunt: we are thrown out on the street by our families. That's why it will take for ever and ever; we are forced into our subculture.
dear Mrs. Joseph, I want to tell you, ambassador of the USA, that I feel frustrated and ashamed: I entered your country that officially does not want to have me. To get into your country I was forced not tell the immigration officer I am homosexual. As a gay jew, I am all too aware of where discriminating between people ultimately leads to. Representing the Dutch gay community I want to ask you to urge your governement to abolish legislation that forces people to denie their identity.
The USA indeed abolished those immigration practices since, but instead forced the same lies upon everyone with the HIV virus and to every person in the military forces. (The only presidential candidate who promissed change on this is Hillary. Her husband however did the same some 18 years ago, but failed to get these changes passed).
Now about the second exhib, at the gay documentation and archive center on the top floor of the new City of Amsterdam Librairy building. It was much more modest in presentation, but managed to get Benno's thoughts across much more effectively. Besides that, the welcoming, open access, spacious building with a superb view over all of the city, was much more fitting for such a beautiful person.
Mr. Premsela gracefully ended his life in 1997. Even in that he was a guiding light.comment?

Good on the Danes!
Denmark was awash with cartoons this week, as 17 newspapers republished controversial caricatures of the Prophet Mohammed to protest an alleged plot to murder a cartoonist. Wednesday's media defiance came a day after Denmark's security police (PET) arrested three men on suspicion of planning to murder one of the 12 cartoonists who drew caricatures of the Prophet for the newspaper Jyllands-Posten in 2005. It was these caricatures, commissioned by Jyllands-Posten to fuel a debate on freedom of expression, that caused Muslims worldwide to burn Danish flags and embassies and boycott Danish produce. It became one of the most heated chapters in what many were calling the cultural and ideologal clash between the secular West and the Islamic world.
The republication by Danish media of the caricatures was a gesture of solidarity with the artist, who had been warned against the plot by the police and moved to a safe hiding place already in November last year. "Yesterday's arrest of three people who, according to PET, were planning to kill one of the cartoonists, Kurt Westergaard, is deeply shocking and disturbing. It shows that there are presumably Islamic fanatics who are willing to make a reality of the threats and who respect neither freedom of speech nor the law," wrote national daily Politiken in its editorial. Politiken was among the 17 papers that ran a cartoon this week.
this cartoon by local friend Auke Herrema, was published in our Delft gay paper 2 years ago. The misguided tolerance towards intolerance only got worse here, fired up by the 3 parties in our governement: radical and moderate christians plus the socialists, they all spread their legs wide for the muslim vote.

our country shamed again
French president Sarkozy said today: "the security of Ayaan Hirsi Ali is a concern to all Frenchmen and him personally" and it looks like the French are prepared to give her the French nationality to enable them to actually enforce their resolution to finance her securiuty anywhere around the world. The Dutch have stopped paying for that, now she works in the USA .They are only willing to finance this as long as she is in our country. Ayaan received the prestigeous Simone de Beauvoir prize this weekend in he presence of all major scientists and politicians. The chairman said: "Where is Holland now? The country that used to be the free haven for independent spitits that even was a refuge to major French creative minds like Descartes. Are they really cowardly getting rid of one of their great minds now she is under threat of muslim fendamentalists because of the costs of security?"
In my own opinion it's the revenge of our treacherous labour party, where she once was a member, under pressure of their now mainly muslim electorate.

don't have much to report on the sexual side of the trip, as nothing much happened. There was one place I would have liked to visit because of its darkroom reputation, Alcatraz, but it was about half an hours walk from our hotel, and I only had a pair of brand new shoes, that did not feel easy yet, plus the company was more into gay chatbars and dance places, it did not happen. On the other hand the visit was more then worth it for the amount of baroque art we encountered. On the way there we stopped over in Dresden. Never knew that city was so overloaded with Dutch masters.
The Staatliche Kunstsammlung has almost as much in Rembrandts, Vermeer, Rubens, Ruysdael, van Dyck as Amsterdam's rijksmuseum plus to top it off a great Duerer and Raphael:

NL cautioned for being too tolerant + another poz interior
More fun about the weird ways our Euro legislation works:
The European commission threatens to take our country to the European high court in Luxembourg. We're being told off for being too tolerant!
We're too tolerant for intolerance. Yeah, that does require some explanation! We are violating the equal opportunities act of the European charter on labour relations in giving religious organisations, like schools, hospitals, churches, too much leeway to discriminate in job opportunities for homosexuals. Our religious parties are preparing for war on this. They have two months to appeal and will! They argue our freedom of education act allows them to to keep dirty homos from spoiling, eh, soiling their innocent offspring. I will keep you posted here.

continuing the memory trip: the Kinks
Ray Davies is one of my all time heroes, and I actually met him in the eighties in a cafetaria at a BBC TV studio somewhere on the Thames in west London, where I was putting up a show with a dance company I worked for. He was just having lunch at a table near us. I did not approach him; I'm not that type of guy.
I also saw him of course 2 decades earlier, schoolboy still, much too young for a drivers licence, so I cycled all the way to club 192, named after the AM frequency of offshore pirate station Radio Veronica, at the beach in Scheveningen, where bands like the Kinks, Them, Golden Earring, played in weekends. I actually was even too young to be allowed into this club so always had older looking school friends to get the tickets and then I sneeked in behind. It always worked.
Also remembered the huge smack on the head my father gave me when I finally returned home on my bike in the middle of the night (at age 14 I still had to be in before eleven).
Indeed, Ray, thank you for the days and being part of that!

good news: gay movie sequels
Some may say sequals never are a good thing but here we have two movies I've enjoyed a lot and both made my top 40 first time around. Let's start with 'eating out', that made it to nr. 13. Here's a clip from the sequel:
At nr.16 in my list you can find 'another gay movie'. In it we find a real porn star, Falcon's Matthew Rush, playing the role of what he is: right, a pumped porn star (see clip 2 of related scenes). We also find my fav British comedian, saturdaynight BBC tv host Graham Norton as a gay teacher.
The sequel, called, you guessed it, "another gay sequel" has been shot over the past 2 months.
In it, apart from the original cast, we'll see Ru Paul and porn pioneer Brent Corrigan! I'm not doing much here in the field of showing pornvids, (I just cannot compete to guys who do such a good job of that), but in the case of Brent, who I've been following for years, an exception is called for. For the very few who missed all of his life story sofar: he started in the business much too young; under the legal age in fact, but that was only becoz he was so eager, he lied about his age, which got him into all kinds of legal shit, when he wanted to break away from his original strangle-contract with Scorpio Video owner Carson Rhodes. He was almost past that, settled the old dispute and getting his own company going when Mr. Rhodes, got murdered.
He was not connected with the crime; only trying to get away from the porn maffia. He now is finally producing his own work, together with his boyfriend and Dink Flamingo, and keeping us all curious here.
Anyway, here's one of the early clips when, let's just say just, he reached the age where it became legal. comment?
