Wipneus & Pim, Dutch DJ's declined invitation to Beijing, pathetic 4 !
They claimed the organisers wanted them to translate all tunes they might play at the "Heineken House" in Bejing into English and Chinese. (mind you I did not verify these facts, I'm not a reporter; it may be restrictions coming from the Dutch organising team). They have a very interacive show so they never know in advance which tracks of about 2000 cd's they will use. Apart from them disagreeing with this infringement of free speech, it is practically impossible to do a job like that in one week. They rightfully thought: "shove it!", let Erica dj herself:

I have no objection to anybody wanting to be a part of these olympics, I'm a great fan of Rem Koolhaas, who designed the new CCTV headquarters and we did not even send dj's Kraak & Smaak, which so nicely translates in English as "Crack and Smack", but really is an innocent children's term that you can find on each pack of crisps in NL. And I can think of some other huge NL artists who declined the invite.

rc church, pathetic 3 !
A few orgs that still hold the futile opinion that change is possible in that most conservative club from Rome, have written an open letter to the pope, urging him to change teachings on contraception. Church words never had much effect in educated countries, but was the direct cause of overpopulation, famine, wars and spread of aids in vast sections of Africa. If that entails their meaning of the sanctity of life, then "shove it!"

the RC church did not want us homo's anyway, so why should we still take them serious? We're pretty good at the forging of our own religion:
and who ordained we should keep our sex private? That's also another construct to keep the ignorant masses under control, using fear, greed, share of power and financial reward, maintaining ignorance or the promiss of reward in a next life!
Luckily, with democatisation of the media and internet that's finally bound to colapse.
I saw the John Barrowman report on the origin of his homosexuality on BBC 1 thursday night (24-7); we already had overwhelming evidence that homosexuality is natural in the animal and plant world (this pride next weekend, aug 1-3, a tour is available at Artis Amsterdam Zoo, around the gayest animal species they have there), we now know it may not pass on through human genes, nor be a thing you choose (who in his right mind would?), but most certainly something you're born with. There is no reason in creation for any religion or politicical conviction in the world to condemn it (apart from power and control reasons, or just estetics? I'm sure the church would even consider legalizing abortion if they come to terms with the fact it is rooted somewhere halfway pregnancy)! comment?

Yep, I will be in A'dam, if only to attend one of the last real homo fuck parties that's still held there and to do something useful with my new camera. If I can make anything like the shots my downstairs neighbour made last year it will be worthwhile:

Anyway, one reason to stay away is that for the first time police is allowed to be present on the boats to celebrate in uniform! I'm not a uniform fetishist, you see, and I don't understand why their argument that part of the force is present there to work, i.e. offer us some security, is not valid anymore. (ok, the recent killing of a policewoman in Amstelveen proves that a police officer is never out of function, but but why didn't they think of that themselves? Why do they always prefer to follow braindead powerhungry politicians rather then nurture their own critical thinking?)
Talking to a gay policeman last week about the HOP policies in the region made me realise policemen are supposed to have a far more critical mind of their own, thinking in lines aimed at protecting the community they serve, rather then the following "befehl ist befehl", which belongs to the military fundamentals.
But is this why we now have 2 ministers and the Amsterdam mayor in the parade? Who invited them, or did they invite themselves? Did they do such a fantastic job to secure the liberties we fought for over the past 50 years? Do they assist us in keeping queer culture alive in Amsterdam? Did they secure our tolerant climate where artists can expriment in peace and quiet? Where we can organise parties in a secure way we ourselves can accept? Did they take their job, to keep our streets safe from religious fanatic agression, serious from the start? I'm planning on bringing a banner to tie to a bridge:

I guess it just cannot be avoided, the copying of art books onto the Yahoo vulture art groups. I did my best to prevent this from happening with the high quality book of the Harry Bush heritage for a full year now. And still will suggest to everybody that the 'Hard Bodies' book is great printing quantity and quality at a price that's next to nothing compared to the hours of work that this guy who calls himself Strict goes into scanning from it, even if you don't consider that it ruins the quality of the binding, and risk the entire Yahoo gaytoons2 group being taken offline.
But who am I to adress this issue? I'm not the publisher. I've given my opinion, and that's that!

anyway, I borrowed above scan from that group, and only used this image as it fits into the campaign I'm running to counter Extreme Religious parties in our governement cracking down on the liberties we fought so hard to attain over the past half century, only to be reversed again, thus ruining the traditionally tolerant reputation our country once had.

No, they did not murder half the Jews of the world, but they did murder tens of 1000's that a Dutch UN corps was assigned to protect. The air support that the Dutch army asked of the UN headquarters in Bosnia never arrived, giving these two and their soldiers a chance to continue killing 1000's in Serajevo and Srebernica. Our prime minister then, Mr Kok, even resigned for the shameful events that happened then.
Holland's blocking of the entry of Serbia into the EU, until these two are surrendered to the UN court in the Hague, finally seems to work. Mind you, we're only halfway there!

Maybe their trails in the Hague will shed some light on these amnesty deal mysteries, where possibly the dying former French president Mitterand and USA president Clinton were involved in. comment?

Just got a message from David (The Dancin' DJ). He uploaded one of the original 12-Inch versions of the legendary BoysTownGang song 'Cruising the street' to youtube. It is the version with the cruising session starting, the hooker watching and the police getting into the action. He accompanied the song with some appropriate Tom of Finland artwork. I do hope it stays around (as it is on a public site, everybody can object to it and flag it as adult, or even request it to be taken off, which I hope will not happen with such a great piece of history).
There's a lot of sentimental commentry at the earlier censored (or was it sensoring? some claim it's just youtube's 10 minit cliplimit) version of the song. I was also swept away by their 1981 Disco kicks!
It sure is tragic that the boys did not survive the aids era, but also touching to see that the original girl singer (Cinthia) added some comments too:

Of course I was 12 when I recorded this record :):):) I never married or had children, and have always made a living singing, so I think these things add to my youthful look (but mostly it's lancome:) we'll stay in touch.

dwh back with the old fighting spirit; proving red is a hot color !

I needed all of saturday to get over the Abba party. Not that I over indulged in alcohol, but mostly coz, having a party again at dwh still is a big deal to me, that I want to go well. Having a lot of costly AV equipment there also means that you must stay untill the very end, when you can take it down again. That meant arriving home at around 5!
Not only do I feel responsible for the Dj and the VJ part, that I promissed to take care of, but it is a big thing to me that the place that has suffered from lack of cohesion due to short minded leadership, gets back the reputation of over 25 years, as the only and nr.1 gay venue in Delft.
Luckily a new leadership is in place and I was invited to be part of a getting on with the job left unattended since december 2005, when we had the last Laundryday there. Sure, I did coöperate with some musical nights, but only as a participant, not as part of the team.
yesterday I got an e-mail from the initiator of the event that read something like this:
Hi All,
We had a successfull evening indeed: the cinema was sold out, so Mustsee will be pleased; and the DWH had a top night, which is very extraordinary in the middle of the holiday season on a rainy night: turnover and attendance has not been as high this whole year!

I planned on showing the Mama Mia clip with the première images, but hey, the singing is not by Abba, so it's pretty awful, really, so I replaced it with that great ozzie movie from some years back.

doing Abba songs cannot be that hard: a few years ago we had dance-remakes of the Abba songs by the A-teens, and they were all pretty great! Also Kylie did a great version of Dancing Queen at the opening of the Sydney Olympics. And, eh, Merill Streep also is so much better when she just plays the bitch she is, like in 'the devil wears prada':

Well, I didn't go to Oostende after all: They just didn't take the trouble to send me adress information. Instead I went to XXXleather, which was incredibly hot in the right way. At midnite (I was just in) the dj stopped and they played the donker verlangen video in memory of Vera, or rather Charles here, which I felt was very nice and apropriate indeed. The rest of my adventure there you will have to read on the poz page, as it was that kind of night.

Vera Springveer died!

Amsterdam's only trava who NEVER did PLAYBACK died. He was an anual highlight of canalpride for years, singing gay traditionals on his solo boat. Also was part of the legendary 'Club Chique' at Mazzo in the eighties and performed at the legendary dwh swimmingpool parties here in Delft. Was part of Hellun Zelluf's Gay dating show. See him, eh, herself:

Rock and Roll, indeed: on the vid above he performs with the band of legendary Herman Brood. He was also part of girls just wanna have fun with Frederique Spigt, Manuela Kemp and many others. Donker Verlangen (dark desire, the name of Martin's group), his ode to the darkroom was the theme tune at this weblog in the early days when we still had trouble embedding just one single song. I want lace too!

I'm a bit of an old fart, who started living on his own back in the hippie era, when we were all extroverts and exhibitionists. The first thing we rejected in our parents interiors was the 'vitrage'. We only used blinds to shield the sun and thick curtains as extra isolation in winter. Thus it became one of the peculiairities of the Dutch that you could see right through their living rooms. Only the last few years lace is making a sort of style comeback. And if we get home decorators like the above, to show off the quality of the material, who am I to resist any longer? comment?

Been on the phone with Marc, the vid director and will see Ralf, venue organiser tomorrow. They look like cool collected guys who can use another down to earth person that does not get over exited at whatever hot sex is going on. They seem like a bit overwhelmed with getting both party and vidshoot preparations going smoothly. I can understand; I've been there more then once or twice: I know how hectic/chaotic this kind of project can get as I've toured around the world for theater, porn videoshoots, Tom Of Finland - projects for many years now. Directing, artistic views and project managing are different things, and then I have not talked about testosterone, hot cocks, chems. I'm just glad that some guys are getting the true pig-pervert revolution back on its feet after a few years of stagnation in our once so tolerant eurozone.

They will not officially confirm it, but if you stack all new tighter regulations on top of each other there is just no way to continue them. Many organisers have confirmed they have been told so by officials. We have to get on a bus to rural North Holland to find places like Lexion, where a 1000+ visitors event can still be held. Now only XXX still has it's venue in amsterdam West. All this betrayal to sollicit the muslim vote? Pathetic! Will the darkrooms be next? It's time for Stonewall riots, or better said: Warmoesstraat riots again! Just 1 parties left for us now: D66. Pride street events on august 3rd will be our litmus test

so nice to get warm support on a project. Someone sent me the sleeve design of the original vinyl lp where "bend over one more time, oh Billy, Billy, Billy" came from. I'm now going to mail this to Margreet to see if we can get hold of the original margreet/piano/backingvoice track of that song to get our best queer dj's to fondle a new remix.

also found out that you can get hold of Margreet's vid of the song and much more of her 5th dvd for only €10,- and ordered it straight (?) away ! comment?

Pater Jan van Kilsdonk R.I.P.
A guy I, as former catholic, raised by Jesuits, knew personally from his years as pastor of the gay community in Amsterdam. He was a loving unreserved member of that community, fully and unconditionally accepting people as they were. Often to be seen in the wee small hours of the morning in our darkroom bars. In the days when loads of homos died fast en terribly, he supported them, without questioning their allegiance to the church. He was there for us, thought with us, ate and drank with us, and sneakily prayed for us, who told him we did dot want anything to do with the church anymore. A great difference from nowadays, when we are back at "you may be it, but not do it", in almost all of the church and religious political parties.
I do wish I could learn from him to lose some of my critical edge and appear as supportive for the community that I am part of, as he was. comment?

Freedom of Expression 1815-2008 R.I.P.

we've been able to enjoy you for quite some time.
Your presence for so long was almost taken for granted.
That is why it was such a horrible blow
when you suddenly were taken away.
We see this as a terrible loss for our country and what it stands for:
the truly free society, we thought we lived in.

Of course we stand firm next to D'66-youth and Groen Links (then PSP) that have, from the start (first gay rights demonstration at parliament in 1969 to abolish a different age of consent for gays and straights) stood firm and uncompromising for equal rights for ALL minorities, not just the ethnic and religious ones.
We strongly feel we are fast sliding towards a situaltion we have not seen here since the "Iconoclasm in 1566". We feel betrayed by all parties in power. But the point has been reached where we must stand and say: "enough is enough!" comment?

The only party that has been consequently faithfull to its goals, even if it was about supporting minorities that were not considered popular, and even if it meant dropping out of governement, they always did choose the hard road. Tomorrow they've invited us all to join in their demonstrative burial of "freedom of opinion" at the ministry of justice.

I hope to get a chance to spread my flyer, which will say "Oh Lord, protect gay youth, educators and artists from Christian justice".
until last week I thought our labour's minister of gay affairs art and education could and would do that, but I've lost all trust in the power hungry main parties, that do anything, including sacrificing basic principles, to keep their middle of the road or religious voters. They are no longer the suportes of the weaker in society, they just support popular opinion! comment?
