does anybody stil care why homo Delft goes down the drain ? A month ago the results were published of a major enquiry under Dutch youth: prime conclusion, our youth suffers from too much self esteem and narcissism. My thoughts exactly: if you find yourself too good already you will never pick up the hard lessons learnt by earlier generations. And do take that from one who now royally admits he's had his fair share of falling flat on his face.
That is why I repeat here: DWH is lost if they now think siding with prudes, religion and hypocricy is a good idea. Moralising, instead of facilitating will never work. Keeping the peace by remaining quite and self sensorship while the real enemy rears its ugly head all around us is what got us in the sewer that drowns us now in the 1st place.
That is what I even heard Paul de Leeuw say last nite on VARA tv, when he talked about the declining social climate of the past 5 years in NL.

And on a lessser note: isn't it typical that the list is headed by a heterosexual. Just saw the 'Windows on Vermeer' AVRO tv Close Up documentary by Hans Pool and Koos de Wilt, I know the latter because he was the captain who fled the sinking ship of the Vermeer Center, when it went bankrupt instead of saving it. One historic error is so prominent in his film and so close to where I live that I just have to comment: He has Lawrence Weschler, writer of 'Vermeer in Bosnia' comparing the 9-11 disaster to the explosion of the gunpowder house in Delft in 1654. True, the devastation was horrendous, but he says the exploded armory was the empty space, center in Vermeer's view on Delft. He mixes up the former VOC headquarters, now army museum, with the powder house, which was at the other side of town at the Schie, see the painting of our ground zero, made at the east side of Delft, where I now live at the Vermeer straat, opposite of the rowers boathouse built by Vermeegeren, the renowned Vermeer forger just 300 mtrs from the former powder house site, till this day owned by the ministry of defence. Vermeer's friend Johan Fabritius (next street, nowadays) died in the explosion. The movie has some great moments too: Did like the soundbyte of Erwin Olaf: "Vermeer licht kan me gestolen worden, as me gedijntje maar recht hangt". (Fuck Vermeer light, if only my curtain hangs straight' I kind of like how the art elite has fled the building so now the reconstructed guild hall is truly a people's place again, wel kept, clean, modest, run by volunteers. Not a place where bankers invest or reposess to make scandalous amounts of money. just as Vermeer was as poor as James Bidgood and always used the same room, with only a few minimal but inventive set pieces. It's what I tried to tell in my db editorial about queer art: True art takes time, takes suffering, takes heart, and most of all: groin. Vermeer is acceptance of life . . . he is the epitomy of the local saying: Doe maar gewoon, dan doe je gek genoeg, just act normal, that's insane enough! saw the History of Roxy Music saturdaynight on BBC4: Being snowed in, I cancelled my trip to XXX in Church and went to the contributers single-X-mas get together at Vermeer Center instead. When I got back home I was mesmerised with Roxy: Roxy plays a major part on the soundtrack of my nr.1 movie of all time. Sax player Andy Mackay (together with Radiohead's Tom Yorke) was part of 'Venus in furs', the band set up to recreate the glam classix for this movie. Also Brian Eno songs are in the soundtrack as well as Roxy originals. Roxy was the epitomy of Glam-Rock and Style. And thus also became fav band of USA Studio54-disco pioneer Nile Rodgers of Chic. Roxy was very much heterosexual, (although I just got an e-mail talking aboutBian Eno fiddlin' with guys and Brian Ferrie in bi-orgies), but thet all were fond of mascara! Of course there can only be one captain on a ship, so the two leading Brians of the band gracefuly drifted apart, only to reunite in this century.

The period when Avercamp lived was also called "the Minor Ice Age". It was considerably colder than today. The winter of 1607-1608 was extremely cold: the frost period held on for over 3 months. But I can also remember that happened when I was about 12, when many canals were frozen al the way to the bottom. Also: tour scating is one of the major social events in NL; it is one of the rare activities that does bring each and everybody together.

According to some, he was already William's lover by the age of sixteen. Keppel accompanied William to England in the Glorious Revolution of 1688. petition for our minister of culture, education and homo emancitation: to be handed over today in Den Haag (if only) he'd have shown up.  Ik wil melding maken van verontrusting onder de generatie homoos die aan de wieg heeft gestaan van de huidige beweging en met inzet van heel veel heeft gezorgd voor een gemeenschap met faciliteiten en vrijheden die internationaal als voorbeeldig werden gezien. Mede als gevolg van een virus dat ons vooral in de 80 er jaren lastig viel is die generatie voortijdig zo ongeveer uitgestorven en vrijwel monddood. Velen zien dit mog altijd als een terechte over zichzelf afgeroepen straf van god voor zondig gedrag. Mijn vraag is waarom dan juist de overlevenden, die zich hebben ingehouden nu zouden moeten worden gestraft? Het restant van deze pionier generatie wordt zowel in werkgelegenheid als waar het gaat om respect voor hun baanbrekend werk tekort gedaan. Sterker, aan alle kanten dreigt hun bouwwerk te worden afgebroken:

They have not fattened themselves and are younger at heart and more inventive then most of the under 40. Today our minister of economics had the audacity to declare that our public offices did not discriminate against the 45+ ers in equal job opportunities. With that she declares herself part of the generation, demented before their time by over confidence and fattening thought. Just declaring "we're not guilty" instead of finding out where and how this started to happen and how it can be reversed is just the most retarded approach one can conceive! To go completely over the top, possibly because I already drew attention to childrens songs on 04-11 and 06-11: NL won a Eurovision song contest, be it the junior one, with the above song in Kiev for the 1st time in 38 years! comment? |
