further: we have a fierce discussion in the Dutch R.C. church when communion was refused to a gay prince Carnival. It was reported to the police as discimination. As a counter measure to all demonstrations expected this weekend churches have decided not to give out communion to anybody, thus avoiding the chance that the sacrament gets desanctified.

a minor review on last nite:
the party was a bit cheaper then we'gotten used to, but I must say, I gladly pay the few extra € for all the extras we've come to expect from the late Gents foundation and good old Leatherpride Ruff. Now we had to pay for the cloathes check, which made for huge waiting lines, because nobody expected that and had small change ready. The same for use of toilets: as if on a party like this people will not just as easy piss on the floor or in somebody's mouth. No condoms or lube to be seen anywhere and the playground facilities were minimal: a few slings and a completely unlit section without any facilities. The organisers may have spent on dj's and stage acts, but even that did not see anything to write home about: music so loud, that I decided to keep in my motorbike earplugs; verbal communication was impossible anyway. They obviously forgot the basic rule for parties: it's people that pull the people.

I was trying to write 'Dutch' above, but the typo result of the fading print on my keys was so spot on that it had to remain in place.
Last week I heard our prime minister say time and again: that decision should not be discussed here (in parlimament but in the Trevezaal, see 22-02 below, under lock and key without the public eye at a cabinet meeting). Now the decision to leave Uruzgan has been forced but it blew up the cabinet.
It's very much CDA to keep sneeking, cheating, misleading and telling half truths and at least that has been stopped on this issue. Sadly that lost us the best minister of finance to get us through the crisis.
Appropriately BBC4 last night showed "the most dangerous man in the USA", about how Daniel Ellsberg leaked the 7000 pages of the Pentagon Papers, which showed that not only Nixon, but also Johnson, Kennedy, McNamara, Westmoreland, etc. were all acting in violation of the Geneva convention. It's amazing that with defence they always seem to argue that information has to be kept secret because of national security and strategic reasons. This seems to mean that governements are allowed to lie and cheat all they want when they go to war! During Johnson and Nixon they ended up dropping twice the amount of explosives of Hiroshima on Viernam civilians a day ! Nixon was heard on the tapes saying "lets nuke them!" Bush and Blair and our prime minister Balkenende too (report commissie de Wit, published just 4th of this month) were cheating about Iraq. The English do recognise that now, sadly Americans still think it's unpatriotic to say anything critical about armed forces and the powers behind the militairy industrial complex.
Only because one high official took his responsibility serious and the US press kept its nerve the USA was out of Viernam just half a year after Nixon was impeached. Our christian minister of foreign affairs Maxime Verhagen, is falling right into place with the Cheneys and McNamara's traditions and had made deals with NATO and the USA to remain on the ground or at least to keep us bombing the Afghans. That is why I do hope we Dutch, now we are asked to go vote again, see that clearly and see the actions of Bos as the only choice he had to stop that and to stop ditch/stealth politics. Hard but brave. Sacrificing his own job as minister of finance.
And NO, the above does not mean I'll vote labour now, because in Amsterdam they are siding with the religious intolerants and are ruining queer culture and the red light district (even the vote of the night mayor was rigged by the jury; the popular vote was for our trava Jennifer; see 19-2). My vote for now, as said goes to groen links, as far away from stealth religion as possible. comment?

20-02-2010 Trevezaal, where the Dutch council of minister meets each friday As I predicted here yesterday it became the last day our governement gathered there in full capacity. They fell early this morning on the issue of our army staying in Afghanistan. On this issue I stand behind socialist finance minister Bos, you see on his back below: we've extended our stay twice already, the Americans are killing more civilians than Taliban (evidently coz morally righteous Taliban do not value their women and children and cowardly hide behind civilians) and will, just like the Russians before, not win. Our demissionairy Christian prime minister opposite wanted to turn around again and extend the stay further. Although there is a less awful US administration in place, he has been nothing but an asslicker of the insane Bush, where our foreign affairs minister Verhagen is a carbon copy of Cheney who already had made a deal with NATO that we would stay, without consent of our parliament.
Sadly mr. Bos, who pulled us through the crisis, by taking principles more serious then his job prospect as minister of finance, will now probably have to return to the parliament benches. Just hope our voters will not turn to the radical right for a solution.
Funny thing is they are all sitting in the same chairs I'm sitting on behind my desk here. It's the rolls royce of office furniture. for hire for € 105,- ex VAT a month, that's more than your average office chair costs to buy.

friday 22u Melkweg: Vote for night mayor Dear friends,
Despite winning the popular vote, we lost the night mayor election.
It is a disappointing outcome for an historic campaign. Amsterdam, so it seems, is not ready for a drag queen as night mayor.
Of course it hurts, but we also knew we were the underdog from the start.
The struggle for tolerance is a long one. Sometimes you win some, sometimes you lose, but we should never forget our ideal.
I am proud of my campaign. I am proud of all the support my candidacy got. I am proud of all my supporters.
You made a signal. You stood up for the right of everybody to be who he or she is. You stood up for an ideal that is slipping away through our fingers if we don’t pay attention to it.
So, keep the faith. Keep believing in yourself. This battle may be lost, but the war is far from over.
Now, it is time to look forward:
Isis is our new night mayor. Whatever our thoughts about the system she got elected by, I believe that we should accept her as our night mayor.
She already reached out to me and invited me to become a member of her night council. Which is more than gracious of her.
I will have to think long and hard about how and when I want to continue the fight for more tolerance.
But one thing is for sure: we owe it to ourselves and everybody else to keep on believing in a better world.
So, in the months and years to come, keep the faith and keep on fighting!

As some know I'm in a fierce debate with the local community center about the direction it's taking this century. The dutch version of my argument is to be published in a local magazine next month. The essence is that I don't like the 'normal' direction powers-that-be try to swing our culture; all the subversity, sexual deviousness, hedonism and fun seem to get outlawed nowadays. This play, reviewed in the New York Times, seems to tacle this very issue by placing the 1958 and 2008 era juxtaposed. some lines from the review:

Continually in conflict with my sparring partner Martin of Holland, who keeps nagging me about having too many vidclips here. He still lives in the middle ages (although he got himself a superduper ½Inch thin/2meters wide samsung HD led-tv, he keeps on copying vhs quality porn dvd's. While the rest of the world does not bother any longer to download to their own hard drive now their glassfiber connection works faster than a harddisk and youtube-HD already surpasses DVD quality.
Here in NL we see small farmer villages leaving major cities like Amsterdam and Rotterdam behind in getting highspeed connections. That's because local democracy works so much faster at our countryside these days. While the cities drown in petty arguments and divided themselves into oblivion with neighbourhood and district council democracy (thanx D'66!) the old argument that cabling up the countrysite was not economically feasible is proved obsolete time and again!
I already reported here that Amsterdam has lost it's title of gay capital to the village of WestZaan, where under an old farmhouse at this mediaeval dike village now is the largest party center of the entire country, where all our pervy parties that were banned from inner city Amsterdam now take place and boosted the entire village's economy. This while socio-prudes from once progressive parties like PvdA in Amsterdam are closing down the red-light district.
The old farmers may still vote SGP (christian fanatic), but they prove more tolerant than our so called city socialists, meanwhile they are laughing themselves all the way to the bank: National governement does not allow them to keep cows because they shit in the grass, at least their sons (tall and well endowed, thanx to hormone supplements in cowfood and thus in the milk) do make a nice bit of pocket money in these hard times as barmen, parking- or cloakroom- or toilet attendants, and above all as strippers at Lexion!
